Woodturning is the craft of shaping wood on a lathe using hand-held tools to create forms that are symmetrical around an axis of rotation. Much like a potter’s wheel, the wood lathe allows an artist to generate an endless variety of functional and decorative forms.

Oscar has worked with wood throughout his adult life and began turning on a lathe ten years ago. Since then, he has developed a deep appreciation for both the process and the unique character each piece of wood brings to a project. He enjoys working with many domestic woods such as oak, pine, maple, and cedar from the Eastern to the Western parts of the US.

Oscar is especially drawn to unusual and exotic woods from around the world, including mappa wood from Europe, parota from Costa Rica, koa from Hawaii, and olive wood from Italy.

Oscar and his wife, Judy, share a passion for craftsmanship and creativity, working together to bring beautifully handcrafted wood pieces to life. They reside and create in New Port Richey, Florida.
